More rain...

An update to this whole Christmas trip fiasco...

After a delay of 18 hours, which included 5 hours of getting back home, getting the truck, loading it up, and getting back to Birmingham to pick up Kelly and the boys, we headed out.

30 minutes into the re-tooled trip, a rock hits my truck's windshield. Yes. It is now cracked. It started out a two inch crack, but is now about 12 inches long and snaking its way up and across the windshield.

Kelly brought a container for the boys to pee in since, only when we are on the road, they have to pee every 10 minutes. I told her, "Kelly, that is not leak proof." "Oh yeah, it will be fine," she says.

Nope.

Boys knock it over, and now my floorboard in the back of my truck smells like pee.

Oh, and it rained a lot, so even though our luggage carrier is SUPPOSED to be water proof, evidently there are some leaky spots. So, some of the presents got wet. Not ruined wet, but at least re-wrap wet...

So...

Broken down van (which we are now just looking for someone to buy as is to take off our hands), spilled pee, cracked windshield, 18 hours longer trip, 5 people with sore necks and backs, and wet presents later...

We're here.

But at least we are all healthy, had no accidents that caused injury, and have family that appreciates the effort.

But I have to admit, I am glad that next Christmas will be with my family, which does not involve any travel.

Whew.
